The first step to weight loss is AWARENESS.
I had a client come in yesterday and share that they’re a little fluffier than they care to be at this time and would like a plan to fix that.
The awareness to recognize a need for change is great!
But the next step is the awareness of what’s actually going in their face hole
There are studies that show people underestimate the amount of food they eat by around 1000 calories PER DAY! That’s a 2lb weight gain per week for someone who says “I don’t eat THAT bad” and then wonders why they’re increasingly looking like a busted can of biscuits
So my client’s task for the next few days is simple: log their food.
Every meal, every bite, every sip, every handful of whatever, it all gets logged. As we talked through this, the realization my client had (almost immediately) was there’s too much snacking and too much alcohol (not excess, but not aligning with their goals).
I’m confident that even just fixing those two things will result in progress, without changing much else of their diet.
Food journaling isn’t the most funnest thing to do, but much like balancing your bank account, you need data to make informed decisions. Otherwise, it’s a huge guessing game that will leave you even more frustrated and discouraged, with a waistline in overdraft
